Technogym Treadmill
by: Marissa

Dear Gerry:

Which version of Technogym treadmill do you have? They have been in business since the 80s, so i guess they have a niche market in the fitness industry

Technogym - all models as far as i can tell

I travel a lot. Most hotels where i lodge have technogym equipment.

Technogym treadmills have the worst impact on my joints.

Its as if i weigh a thousand pounds. Running on a lifefitness is far better.

For example, on a lifefitness, i can run a 7 min mile pace or better for an hour (a little faster than running outside).

On a technogym treadmill, i can barely run 10k per hour.

What the heck?

Interesting info

Thanks for posting this!

If you have tried several Technogym units with similar results, and none matching the life fitness workout leaves me with a couple of ideas.

One, from my experience, I have learned runners, tend to know better than anyone, how treadmills "feel and perform", so I tend to trust what they say.

This says the deck/belt resistance must be higher on the technogym, as in the belt must slide harder across the deck with each foot stomp, dragging down the controller, and reducing overall belt speeds during a workout.....

Two, a lazy or slow-regulating MCB can cause speed losses and sustained loaded speed regulation must be designed in at prototyping.

The overall result mentioned is poor performance compared to beefier performance found in the Life Fitness units.

Electronically, I know the Life controllers a bit, and they are capable of coping with large current loadings but I am not versed on Technogym much, so I can't say what their designs should do.

Terrible treadmill if you actually expect to run. There are no physical buttons and the "virtual buttons" are slow to respond. This makes changing pace virtually impossible without errors.
