"Frustrated" I shared my critique with you if you have read it. Now I,m writing to notify to everyone how "Icon" rectified ,and has gone above and beyond to rectify my problems I had. Very satisfied how they have stayed in contact with me thruout. I must say that customer service has done a 180 degree turn around, and that I could not be more pleased.

The treadmill has a lot of nice options, and looks nice, but that's about it. I've used it only for a year off and on and it stopped working. We've changed the engine belt, but it keeps on coming off, due to the engine tilt, cockeye position, that was from the manufacturer. So right now it's just a decoration piece with no real use; because even if the belt is put in correctly it comes off in about 15 minutes of walking.

Shortly after I purchased this treadmill, I noticed that the incline and fan buttons does not work properly. Options on the left side of the treadmill worked intermittently but the right side was fine. The speed control is on the right, so the treadmill would always run, but the fan button required some giggling and only seemed to work after about 20 minutes of use. Soon, the incline was the same way. When the fan did finally operate, it would sporatically make a high pitched sqeel that could make your ears bleed. It was as difficult to stop the fan as it was to start it, so I'd have to pull the plug and begin again.
This treadmill is 3 years old and it apparently needs a new console board, which cost $300 for the part and that doesn't include installation. Sears repair charges $100 just to walk through your door. I appear to be screwed.

This model was a replacement for a unit that I purchased, arrived damaged, but was discontinued and there was no exact replacement available. I requested a unit similar in price and fuction to my original purchase and this was the rep's suggestion. So I got it. Worked fine. I was running 4-6 miles per day. After 3 months, my miles increased to 6-8. Each time I would ran more than 7 miles, the treadmill came to a sudden and complete stop but never at exactly the same time/miles. This was a real surprise to me the first 2 times. So I called Pro Form 5 times and went through a series of diagnostics, ran tests and talked with various reps. No one had an answer. Last rep I spoke with said that this is supposed to happen as these treadmills are not made to run long distances. I thought that was odd, but it was a crosstrainer model so I thought she might be right. So I called again to request an exchange as this machine would not work out for me as my miles increased. I was told that it was past 90 days. So I spoke to a supervisor up a level or 2 in the customer returns department, and she basically told me there was nothing they can do as the unit was past 90 days and that there was no one else I could talk to and that no one who would return call if I left my number. She then said "this is the end of the line" thanks for calling. So now I manage my run in 5-6 mile segments, restarting the treadmill as to avoid that sudden and unexpected stop. I share this story with every runner that asks me about treadmills.

I weight about 230 lbs and the treadmill has a weight capacity of 300 lbs. I typically ran on the treadmill between 3-5 miles 6 days per week. The treadmill was a little over a year old when the deck cracked. I called ProForm and they stated that it was not covered under warranty. Not to mention that when I was assembling the treadmill last year, the motor was not bolted correctly; I had to have a technician adjust the location of the motor. About 2 months after that, the belt had to be replaced. It was estimated to me that it would take at least several hours to replace. Therefore, it's not worth the cost to get it fixed, only to have it break again. I am now in the market for a new treadmill and it will NOT be a ProForm.

Terrible and proform does not help you. If you call the service dept. you can never get in you are on hold for over an hour and then they have to call you back.. We are in our 70's and never went over 2.0 an hour so we did not overwork it. We also did not use it very often and now the control board went out and Proform informed us they do not even make this part anymore. We bought it at Academy and they have not been any help either. They say they will call back and help us in some way but they do not call back. This has been a really bad experience and blame Academy as much as proform.

Returned 3 times. Can't deal anymore. Great customer care. But the product is awful. First was the motor. Then was the belt. Last was the belt again.
I needed to have the motor replace under warranty. After three years, the walking platform cracked. A new platform costs $244 dollars. That is excessively a lot of money to pay for a coated piece of wood. However, with a cracked platform it is useless. It is common for the platform to crack after a couple hundred hours of use. Will I purchase a proform again? Replacement parts are very expensive
I bought this stuff at 50% off father's day promotional price at Sears last month.
I admitted that I could not expect much for this price level. Motor is powerful enough for me as a walker / mild jogger. It has a built-in speaker and USB charger, but the speakers are too weak, that I need to set the volume to maximum in order to override the treadmill noise.
Talking about the noise, it is quite quiet if you don't put your foot on the belt. Once you start to walk, you can hear the friction noise between the belt and deck, sounds like sanding your furniture, the faster the louder. You can even hear a high pitch motor noise when the speed is over 5 mph - that is still fine for me because I seldom walk that speed. The nightmare starts when I pressed the incline buttons. It is as noisy as mini airplane taking off. What I mean is you will surely miss out some conversation from the TV if the treadmill is inclining. My wife just goes down to the basement to watch from another TV everytime I'm using the treadmill.
I called the service to fix it, but they said the noise was normal. I also tried the same model in the shop and found the incline motor was very quiet compared with mine, the sales person explained that it was normal because my house is too small and creates a lot of echo. I tried another 10 year old treadmill in my friend's home (same size of my house) and the incline motor was surprisingly quiet. Then I went to another fitness equipment store to test one treadmill of about the same price, and the result was – quiet.
I called Icon service and they said "incline noise loud is normai", then I asked if it was normal for this model or normal for all treadmills, he replied that "for all treadmills". Finally he asked me to contact Sears for after service due to some sort of "agreement between Sears and Icon".
After several struggles with Sears, I was finally forced to pay 20% restocking charge (plus gst/pst) to return this nightmare machine. I said I was not informed of the return policy when they sold me the treadmill. The sales then pointed to the small wording that printed on my receipt "20% restocking applies".
I now have two conculsions:
1. Don't buy this model, if it is not the design problem, it should be the QC problem.
2. Don't buy from Sears, they earn only on "restocking charges".
3. Beware of the after service when you buy Icon products, their solgan is "bad things are always "normal"".

Great treadmill, except if you plan on using it for longer than 5 months. I wouldn't even say I used it excessively (max 25 miles per week) and the belt would not move with a human on it. I tried tightening it and loosening it as well as lubricating it.... I am so mad because I spent good money to have it for winter, and that's the only thing I got, ONE WINTER.

Purchased this treadmill last July 2007. The running board has broken more than 3 times since. I was told by the company that they will be refunding our purchase price due to the fact that fixing it will cost more than replacing it. Luckily we purchased an extended warranty with this treadmill.
This is our second Proform Treadmill in many years and our first one was great but we are disappointed with this new one. The treadmill is used by my husband who runs more than 4 miles a day and I walk 3 miles a day. I know it gets use a lot but we expected it to last a little longer than just one year.

The treadmill is O.K., but customer service???? Yikes! A $2.05 part broke and they want to charge $12.15 to mail it? What's that about?
absolute crap. cheap mechanicals, and if you ever need to repair it, just burn a thousand dollar bill and take the machine to the dump. then start walking for exercise. they have absolutely no customer service, aren't interested in support once they have the money and their manual was written by someone who'd only seen a picture of a treadmill, never actually worked on one. I would say buy another brand, but proform probably makes it.
Check and compare Treadmills here before you buy any.
Check my pricing, ongoing promotions, manufacturer, mark and model, etc then make a decision.
