The Spirit IN400 treadmill is the best machine in the Inspire series.

But like most Spirit models, its quality and reliability still need to be improved.

Is This Treadmill for You?

This treadmill is perfect for those looking for a decent treadmill with an affordable price tag. However, this treadmill belongs in the very competitive mid-price range category. So I suggest you look at your other options first, through our best buy treadmills page, before deciding to buy.

Features and Benefits

Unlike the other Inspire units, this one comes with a big motor. It has a 3.0HP motor with a full speed of 10mph and a maximum elevation of 15%. So no matter what fitness level you’re in, this machine can provide you the intensity you need.

The 55"L x 20"W 2-ply tread belt is also better than other Inspire models...assuring you that you’ll always have a comfortable workout, regardless of your size.

This treadmill boasts 10 preset programs and 2 user programs to give you more workout options to choose from. Not only that, you can also use the Heart Rate Control feature which monitors your pulse and automatically makes intensity adjustments to maintain you in your target heart-rate zone.

Other features include handrail speed and elevation control, pulse grip, quick speed buttons and quick speed incline buttons. All these features have been added to give you more value for your money.

Weakness

As I’ve said above, the main weaknesses of this treadmill is its quality and reliability. Also, it belongs in the very competitive mid-price range category, so a lot of people pass this model up for other machines with better value.

Recommendation

Normally, I would recommend a treadmill like this one. But since it has lots of competitors in this price range that offers better value, quality, and/or features, I couldn’t recommend the Spirit IN400 treadmill.

As an alternative, you might want to read our review on the Sole F80 treadmill. It is from the same manufacturer as the Spirit brand but comes with better quality. In fact, it is currently one of our best buy treadmills below $1,500.
