The machine is durable for running on as I am over 200 pounds and it handles my weight with no problem. For me the treadmill is necessary as I can't run much outside without my knees hurting. I like my machine but I made the mistake of taking it outside and even though it was under a roof the dampness got to the circuit board and it stopped running. My suggestion is to buy a warranty as parts will cost you more than the warranty. After 90 hours of use and 350 miles the machine has little wear. Sure beats running outside in the winter.
