I have a precor treadmill 9.33 and I love it. It does cost more than others but it has a very sturdy surface for running. Cheaper ones are a bit more flimsy when running. Precor's are very solid. Worth the purchase if you use it often.

Purchased a $5K Precor 9.35 on 4/6/12. In July '12, the product failed. No power to display and belt will not move.
I had to take day off work for the repair guy.
The entire upper board needs to be replaced. 7-10 business days for parts to arrive.
I probably will have to take another day off work once part arrives. Not to mention unable to use the unit for a considerable length of time.
My suggestion... Stay away...

I used to run on an older Precor treadmill at my gym in the mid to late 1990's and I loved that treadmill because it had custom intervals that I could set both the duration and the speed (and also the incline) for each interval split, then I could tell it for how long to keep repeating these intervals. For example I could set it to:
30 seconds at 11mph and 1min 30seconds at 4mph and then just tell it to repeat these two intervals for 30 min.
I got in the best shape doing this but the newer Precor's treadmills at my gym don't have this feature. They only have fixed time interval splits.
I even joined another gym and their treadmill required that you press a button to change between the intervals splits which is not fun to do 30 times or more during a workout.
Can anyone tell me what brand Precor I was using in the mid to late 1990's that had this awesome feature?

I jog on a treadmill 365 days a year. I will not stay in hotels with Precor treadmills. First, they always feel as though they are on incline, even when ostensibly they are not. Second, who is the genius who put the bar on the control panel so that it blocks the runner's view of time and distance? That was real bright. Unless you are way back on the treadmill, you cannot see time or distance, which are exactly what you want to see. I own a Life Fitness, which I love.

Purchased a 9.31 Brand Spank'n New! After about 3 weeks ( 2010) there is a squeal coming from the front motor housing...disappointing! I call the store where I purchased it and they suppose to be sending a tech out to look at it. The only complaint is having to waste my time coming home from work to get it repaired. The squeal starts at speed 6.8 and continues until 7.5. VERY ANNOYED!

I purchased my Precor 9.2si treadmill 23 years ago...yes, 23 years!
It was the single most expensive item I had purchased in my life at that time (next to a car).
Many, many, many miles later, I still have it.
It has made a move to 4 homes and survived and still runs exceptionally well.
The only problem I have had is the motor hood cover cracked due to a child's ill-placed foot.
So mine is duct-taped together.

My wife and I bought a Precor M9.20s model long ago (over 10 years). It was expensive - about $2.300 or so as I recall. But after 6,500 miles it's only required lubrication. Zero parts. I flipped the deck over about 2000 miles ago and it's been going strong since. It's not the quietest machine around but after 10 years I could have used up 5 lesser machines.

When I was in high school, my dad bought a Precor 9.41S treadmill (this was sometime between 1988-1990). Between my dad, my sister and me, we used it almost daily (some days it was not used, some days it was used 1-3 times), but definitely the treadmill was used. We walked and ran and used the incline.
It is now 2010 and that treadmill STILL works!! My parents moved to Florida so I asked him to give me the tradmill. My husband and I have had it for 5 years and we still use it. I am on this web site because we want to buy a second treadmill so we can workout together.
I did not realize how much my dad must have paid for it because it IS a quality treadmill. It is heavy duty and a QUALITY WORKHORSE machine!! Compared to the newer treadmills, the drawbacks on the one I have would be that it does not fold up so it takes up space, and it is very heavy so it takes 2-3 people to move and is not something you move regularly. BUT if you are looking for a quality, long lasting, sturdy piece of equipment.

Had my 9.21 for 9 years. Paid $2700.00 with extended 5 year warranty. I'm 6'4, 230lbs and used the machine on average 4 times a week 3 miles each time. Very stable machine but had to have the deck and belt replaced just before the extended warranty was up. Belt began to fray about a year later ( warranty was gone by this time) Precor did not charge for the belt and labour. Had to have motor belt replaced last year ($160). Sold it for $450 6 months ago

Bought used from a Gold's Gym for $800. Have eventually replaced the belt and motor, but it is more solid than any thing out there. I am 6'-1" and 225 lbs and it is rugged and solid under your feet. Have spent about $600 since originally buying it two years ago, but now should be good for many years and it is way better than a cheap machine you easily spend $1400 on.

We have owned this treadmill for 10-12 years.
I did winter marathon training on it for three of those years, plus workouts at least five months a year.
My husband is a daily runner of 5 miles per day and has used this continuously.
What a workhorse and love the shock absorbsion.
Plan to buy another.
After all this time, (including one replacement of the running board, the belt, and engine)it is overheating and we will purchase a new one.
