The Horizon Elite 2.1T treadmill is just an average machine.
It is priced at around $300 more than the Horizon Elite 1.1T. And for that, you’ll get a slightly more powerful motor and better electronics.
If you’re looking for an affordable treadmill with excellent electronics, then this is the model for you. However, due to its cheap parts, its long term reliability is something to be concerned of.
This Elite model presents a 2.0HP continuous duty motor. This is better than what the cheaper Elite 1.1T is offering, but I still doubt this motor to have enough power to satisfy hardcore runners.
Update: This treadmill has been discontinued. |
Horizon also included the huge 20” x 55” running surface. This is pretty impressive considering its price. Still, this should not be a reason for you to buy this machine. Big tread belts need powerful motors and since this model has a small motor, it would need to work doubly hard to move the large belt. This in return, would lead to tons of problems in the future.
As mentioned above, this unit has excellent electronics. It has 2 blue backlit LCD windows with Blue EL oval track matrix for increased visibility. It also features 20 quick keys for easier speed and incline adjustments.
And finally, like others in the Elite series, this one also comes with a remarkable 25 year motor warranty. This is one of the best motor warranties in this machine’s price range. Other warranties include lifetime for frames, 2 year for parts and 1 year for labor.
Big Belt + Small Motor = Lot’s of Repair and Replacement Costs.
The Horizon Elite 2.1T treadmill is not recommended. This is definitely far from being one of the best treadmills in its price range. With its cheap parts and its big motor- small belt issue, I don’t think this machine would last 10 years without lots of repairs.
If you really want a high quality mid-priced unit, I suggest you visit our best treadmill page and look for machines in the $1,500 price range.
