The HealthTrainer 701 treadmill is the much bigger and more stable version of the HealthTrainer 601. Plus, it is priced below $1,500 so most can afford it.
This treadmill would fit those looking for excellent motor warranties. Plus, its belt size is pretty big so tall people might find this model attractive. But before you start buying be sure you read this whole review. There are things here that might make you change your mind.
You’ll get a 2.0HP continuous duty motor which has speeds of up to 10mph and elevations of up to 12%. However, I think this motor is neither big nor powerful enough to really give serious runners a good workout. Besides they should be offering more for the price they’re asking.
As I’ve said above, the 20inch x 56inch tread belt is bigger than what the cheaper 601 model has. But, big tread belts need powerful motors and since this model has a small motor, it has to work doubly hard to move the large belt. As a result, this would lead to more wear and tear that will cause you more headaches in the future.
On the bright side, HealthTrainer is offering 10 years warranty for this treadmill’s motor, which is hard to match especially in the price range it’s in. It also comes with lifetime warranty on frames, 2 years warranty for parts and a one year warranty for labor.
Other than the long motor warranty, everything else is a weakness. However, Keys Fitness (the owner and manufacturer of HealthTrainer) is just a new comer in the industry and I believe we should give them more time to improve their treadmills.
I don’t recommend the HealthTrainer 701 treadmill. If you really want a treadmill from Keys Fitness, you’ll get better value from buying an Alliance unit.
If you plan on buying a HealthTrainer 701 treadmill, I suggest you locate a dealer through keysfitness.com. It is currently being sold for $1,199.
